This series comprises business correspondence written to the chairman of the American Lutheran Church (ALC) Mission Auxiliary from other auxiliary officers, editors of auxiliary publications, and the executive secretary of the ALC Board of Foreign Missions (BFM). The correspondence dates from 1938-1948 and is handwritten and typewritten. Authors of this correspondence include the Rev. Elmer J. Braun, editor of The Lutheran Missionary; the Rev. Fred Braun, editor of Missions-Stunde; the Rev. John F. Graepp, vice-chairman; the Rev. H.C. Neeman, secretary; the Rev. Carl Taubert, business manager; and the Rev. Richard Tauber, executive secretary of the ALC BFM. Subject matter generally corresponds to the job duties of each author. Subjects addressed include matters pertaining to the publishing of the two mission publications, scheduling of board meetings, general auxiliary business, the purchase of a tractor for the New Guinea field, financial matters, ways to generate interest in the MA and its work, and issues related to preparation and dissemination of meeting minutes. Files are arranged alphabetically according to authors' last names.

The ALC met as a delegate body biennially in October, the time and place of which was determined by the president and Board of Trustees. All boards and standing committees sent their reports to the president at least sixty days before the convention, so that he could have them printed and sent to the delegates twenty days before the biennial meeting.
